Design Process

From Vision to Reality

Since 1994, we’ve mastered a simple, transparent process that turns any project from a compact apartment kitchen to an entire home into a smooth and enjoyable experience. Our designers, technical experts, and installers collaborate seamlessly to deliver beautiful results on time and on budget. Here’s our approach:

STEP 1: Understanding your Vision & Needs

  • Meet with your DM ITALIA designer, your dedicated partner in bringing your dream project to life.

  • During this 1 to 1.5-hour session, you’ll tour our showroom, experiencing real room displays and exploring materials, finishes, and product options firsthand.

  • Share your vision, your wish list, and your design preferences. Tell us how you cook, entertain, and live so we can design a space that truly reflects your lifestyle.

  • Together, we’ll review your home plans or room measurements, look through your photos or inspiration ideas, and discuss layout possibilities.

  • ​We’ll evaluate design options, explore creative solutions, and talk about your goals. Finally, we’ll review pricing options and collaborate to establish a realistic budget for your custom project.

STEP 2 : Your Design 

  • If you’re inspired by what you experienced during your consultation and wish to move forward with our design team, we’ll begin the professional design phase for your kitchen, closet, bathroom, or any other space.

  • To start this process, we require a design retainer of 10% of the project estimate (minimum $1,500). This retainer will be fully credited toward your purchase once your order is placed.

  • After the retainer is received, our team will either work from your existing plans or visit your home to take precise measurements and photographs of the space.

  • Using your input, design preferences, and selected materials, our designers will craft detailed floor plans, elevations, and realistic color renderings that reflect proper ergonomics and functionality.

  • We’ll then meet again in our showroom to review your personalized design. Together, we’ll refine the layout, adjust finishes, and confirm material selections, all while keeping your budget in mind.

  • Once you’re completely satisfied, we’ll apply the design retainer toward your purchase price and proceed with placing your order.

STEP 3 : Getting it Done 

  • As your new kitchen, closet, bathroom, or other custom space is being crafted, our technical team will prepare detailed electrical and mechanical plans for your builder or contractor to ensure a seamless installation process.

  • Once your products are ready, we’ll coordinate delivery and schedule installation at a time that works best for you.

  • Our skilled installation team will carefully assemble and finish every detail, ensuring the highest quality and your complete satisfaction.

  • To provide you with the attention and service you deserve, our designers meet by appointment only. This ensures dedicated time is reserved exclusively for you, so every detail of your project gets the focus it deserves.
